Prepping your Skin for Makeup Application

Are you aware that the key to achieving flawless makeup lies in properly preparing your skin? Below are some steps you can take to ensure your skin is well-prepared for your makeup application and event.

Hydrate: Make sure that you are hydrating and more hydrating! Dehydrated skin does not do anyone any favours, think of a dehydrated fruit as opposed to a nice plump and juicy fruit...... Make sure you drink 8 cups of water the day before your makeup application.

Ensure you get enough rest: Were you aware that scientific studies have shown that individuals appear more appealing after getting a full 8 hours of sleep? This is logical, as lack of sleep can result in undesirable puffy eyes and dark circles.

Exfoliate: Get ready to glow! Prepare your skin to be a flawless canvas for your makeup application by exfoliating. Whether you opt for an exfoliation mask or derma-planing, doing this the day before will take your skin to the next level. Just like prepping a wall before painting, smooth out any rough or textured areas to achieve a flawless finish! If you need a suggestion on a great hydrating, exfoliation mask I got you!

Morning of: Add more hydration after you wash your face with a hydrating moisturizer. If you find you are still fairly dry or in the middle of Winter, you may want to opt in for a good facial oil.

Your Makeup Artist will finish the rest of your skin preperation for you, your skin will be prepped accordingly based on the season and your skin type. Typically, we will use a moisturizer or a light facial oil to achieve a natural and beautiful finish. Additionally, we will address any areas that may require color correction or priming. Personally, I prefer to apply a highly hydrating eye cream before using any concealer under the eyes to prevent caking or creasing.
